Dan and Tracy’s “The Cutting Edge” unveiling
02/07/05

After Day One's class, I had to take the entire night off to let my brain recover. Not only was it spinning off my shoulders but it was threatening to explode with all the new info they had to offer. And that was only the beginning!! We still have Day Two!

We are so excited that Dan and Tracy, and Griffin, chose San Diego to debut their new techniques! And was it worth the wait!!! For the future participants, let me just say, "Hang onto your heads and buckle your belts!" You are not going to want to miss this!! If you missed the opportunity to sit under their instruction, you may want to check the flight schedule to the next location where they are teaching. Our class of 22 was so overwhelmed and so appreciative, we can’t say enough. Everyone was so thrilled to learn from Dan and Tracy.

At first, I wasn't sure about their teaching technique. Well, I am here to tell you, it works! Dan does the work, we watch quietly with baited breath, and then Tracy verbalizes what you just watched. If they talk at the same time that Dan works, your brain is not as ready to receive the info. It was full-blown overload, but manageable.

with these new ideas and the new ones yet to come!!  More tonight because I need to get back to the work area early to try out some new stuff!!

Examples of Dan and Tracy's work

It’s Official!! I am brain-dead!! Just when you thought you were safe, Dan and Tracy pull out another mind-bender! Saturday’s event of all events was just as great, or perhaps better if you ask some, than yesterday’s full day of new techniques. But I am ready to sign up for more. Some may call that “masochistic” but I call it “Not enough!” As Dan was trying to explain some of the techniques he has been working on for the past four years, someone asked, “Now how did you do this one??” He said, “That’s part four!”  After sampling parts one and two, I am so ready for 3, 4, 5, 6…Keep ‘em coming, you two.

What I found amazing is the two days were very different but what we learned on Day One was applicable to some of the new info on Day Two. Often, it’s fun to complete a project in class but the amount of info that Dan and Tracy shared was far and away much more useful than a finished piece. Now with all these new, fun techniques we learned, we can finish projects that will awe and amaze everyone we know.

I can’t emphasis enough, if you ever get the chance to sit under any of the great polymer clay artists, you must include Dan Cormier and Tracy Holmes in your quest. They are the ‘relative’ new kids on the block and promise a great and amazing career in this exciting medium. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to learn there is a whole new generation of polymer clay fans due to the Cormier/Holmes (or HoCo) influence!!
